Is it not a rip-off to be charged extra for a haircut because your hair was 'long'?

Hair salons should make it clear about their definition of 'long hair'.

It is definately not a rip off to charge extra because you have long hair, do you even realize how much work that is for a stylist?

I've never even heard of them upping the price for people with long hair, so yes I do think it's a rip-off.

It depends on the cut. If your hair is down to your chest and you wanted it buzzed instead of just a trim, then yeah, I'd probably charge more because it's more of an effort. Also, if you were getting highlights or having your hair dyed, it would be more of an effort to dye long hair (shoulder length and longer) than short hair.

~i have always thought that was a rip off~ whether u have 12 inch hair, and want it cut into a 6 inch cut.or have 36 inch hair and want it cut into a 6 inch cut, its still the same...a "haircut". so for them to charge u more is a pure slap in the face rip off!

A haircut is a haircut... isn't it the point to get one if your hair is too long? Salons should definitely be specific about lengths before they charge extra.

Depending on how long your hair was, I hope they donated it to the "locks of love" foundation that makes hairpieces for children undergoing chemo. They should not charge extra, in my opinion!

Yes, I find that a rip off as well. I won't go to a place that charges like that... they can bite me....

of course it's a rip off if everybody had short hair there wouldn't be any hair salons and i can't see the difference between cutting 4cm off and 14cm off what con merchants they are go somewhere else and only recommend them to some one you don't like

It DEPENDS.......I worked at a salon with this policy.

Our haircuts where very reasonably priced- and when it comes to dealing with someone who has a lot of hair, it can take twice even three or four times as much time and effort! It doesn't seem fair to someone who just wants a haircut- but realize in a salon- time is money.

Now, I have worked in another salon in which there was a flat rate for men AND for women- but that rate was significantly higher! You are then paying for the expertise of a professional with advanced training, who sets thier standards at select price.

It's up to you to decide what is a rip off. If you got a great haircut and you can afford it- did you REALLY get ripped off?

AND YES....ANY CHARGE should be brought to your attention PRIOR to service whether it is for long hair, conditioning treatments, styling service, etc....

Yeah, just like when my barber keeps charging me the SAME price as others when I keep getting balder and balder and balder. I asked him about this one day, in jest, and he said, "I have to charge a 'finder's fee' for all the work I do to find any hair to cut." Oh well, LOLOLOLOL!!! God Bless you.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the length of your hair. maybe they charged you extra for more styling. Would they charge more for a haircut rather then just a trim. It takes the same amount of time no matter how much you cut off. The salon might charge for styling. Some high end salons charge for styling maybe they charge extra for long hair.
