What the best way to grow long AFRO hair?

I used to have twists and cornrows on my hair, then cut it all out... For a period my scalp was very dry but now I seem to have taken care of it. All I'm doing at the moment is brushing several times a day, adding shampoo and moisturiser around 3 times a week, conditoner twice or so.

Is there a different rutine to take? I's currently under an inch or hair lengh, but i'm hoping for long - five to six inch plus

I think what you should do is get good hair vitamins/pre-natal vitamins first. eat a healthy balanced diet, excericise and rest lots. (remember, hair growth starts from within)

Now about the external part, our hair is mighty fragile, try as much as possible not to abuse it by over brushing and all. Wash you hair every 7-10 days to avoid breakage. get a trim every 3 months, moisturize everyday. Get a well good, quality shampoo and conditioner... make sure you wrap your hair in a silk scarf/durag before going to bed or invest in silk pillowcases if you cant be bothered with the wrapping...

Also, check out this website, www.growafrohairlong.com .. educates you on your hair! Best of luck!!!!!

Genetics I'm afraid - it's all in the superior afro growing hair bloodline. As an Aussie of anglo descent my follicles just don't have the ability. Product helps but only very briefly.

It will take some time, but with care you can do it! Spend a few extra pennies on a quality hair brush if you are going to brush it to death! Shampooing 3 times a week is probably the reason for the dry scalp? Your hair, AFRO hair is very fragile, and often not treated as such! It will be important (for growth) to trim often...split ends are often overlooked in AFRO hair, but very evident due to popular styles, etc. Your diet will play a part as well, research foods that support hair growth. Having your head massaged, while may or may not stimulate hair growth, will stimulate relaxation, and relaxation stimulates inner comfort, peace, happiness, %26amp; so much more...
