Well I was going to say layering, but you dont like it :)! My hair is like that too, and I just have a simple layering technique so that I can wear it straight or curly. Normally I wear it back. One thing I always have them do is thin it out a lil bit. Nothin much but there are these amazing scissors that just kind of thin it out and it helps. I hated the headaches before! Try what I do - comb them well, then put some styling gel in it, munch them in a messy bun and fix with a hair band. the bun must be right above your head to be sure there will be volume near the roots and that it won' t disturb you while you sleep. In the morning it looks like a bed head or so.

my hair is the same. i had the same problem. what i do is put it in half ponytails, sometimes i give it a light curl, or i leave it down. or, if you like clips, you should put it in a small flip bun, and put a clip over it, so it just look like it's holding it, but it's really not. try a few different things out. : ) if you ever do want to get it cut short, you should go to a professional and ask for layers or something and make it NOT choppy, (if they mess up, ask for a refund,lol.)

Most of the pictures are going to be slightly out of date due to fact that the type of hair color you are describing is dated now. Hair color is a bit softer now, not as separate. If you're really into that look however may I suggest doing in a blond color story only- not a brown on the bottom. You can have a really nice pale blond on the top and go to a dark blond under. That is a more refined version on the idea. Best of luck.

well.. honestly i dont reccommend for the dark on the bottom to be too dark because it wont "flow" right with the hair style... but regardless, i left some links that i am sure you will love the hairstyles and haircuts... another thing i recommend is that you should speak with your stylest on pictures and what colors she best recommend with you hair and your skin color and your texture of hair... blonde is a color that has to be taken care of or it will look dried out and mistreated..... if you get that done make sure to deep condition once a week and to get a trim every 6-8weeks to keep your hair healthy and shiney....

I think any reputable salon will be able to help you. No dye will last and maintain its colour for a long while, all colours dull or fade aroud the time they start to grow out - around 6 to 8 weeks. For bleached hair, specialist products designed for bleached hair only can maintain shine and regular use of conditioner for coloured hair ( especially of the colour in question is red), can prevent fading for a little while, but all permanent dyes lose their vividness and shine at around 6 to 8 weeks.

Ok, so you want wavy hair. Plaits are a good way, just plait your hair before you go to bed and then let them loose in the morning. Don't brush through your hair, just let it settle, and If its a little big, leave it a while and it will soon flatten out and find its shape. Use some hairspray to hold the style all day, and if you prefer use a little bit of gel while your hair is plaited.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm trying to figure out the breed of a cat I used to know. It was rather smallish, long black hair, little tuffs or "horns" of hair coming out of the tips of his ears, and it would talk and talk, but not meow. I thought he was a mutt, but then later heard from someone else that they had the same exact combination of characteristics in a cat they knew. Any ideas out there. My web search brings up nothing.

I've always had Maine Coons %26amp; it sounds like one, with one exception: they USUALLY aren't small. Notice, I said usually,however, there are exceptions. My old Maine Coon was a pedigree with papers %26amp; he was quite small. They ususally DO have tufts on their ears, called Lynx tips %26amp; usually "talk" rather than meow. Maine Coons do come in all black too, so it may very well have been a Coon cat.

It really depends on where you live. It is not going to go over well in the Bible-Belt. Perhaps the best ideas can come from school officials where you son is going to start. It takes a few hours to ask them, and they may give you some important information. Generally, it is NOT a good thing to make your child "stand out" in school. I hate to say it, but starting school is a timed to conform. You may get away with it later, but don't put your child in harm's way on the first day of school...

My only cconcern with having longer hair is the upkeep. How many little boys that you know comb their hair and keep it neat. Look around, most kids with longer hair have it all messy and sticking up in different directions. I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. i have tried to achieve this many times, but failed. one day i did it with the average hairspray, gel, and glue, and i brought a sandbucket full of water in my bag. I'm a teenager (Asian) with really thick and poofy hair. Now I have a style chosen out, but the last time (slash first time) I went to a hair salon, they it didn't go so well (due to lack of communication. They spoke a different langauge.)

I've read about good places, but I've also read that just because a place is good, doesn't mean a stylist is good.

I've also read about how to deal with thick hair, but I've also read about how things could go wrong.

I have a lot of people at school used to how I look, so I really don't want to screw this up.

So I'm asking three questions here.

One: If I'm not so sure about how I want my hair to look, do I just ask them for someone to talk to?

Two: How do I know if the hair stylist is good?

Three: While I'm getting my hair cut, what should I look out for, or correct? (Yes, I'm very paranoid)

Bonus points for telling me what these words mean: layering technique, feathering, razor, shaggy look.

1. Find a hair cutting place that speaks ur language (assuming english)

2. stylists from asia are very good. all my asian friends get their hair cut when they go back. trust me =)

3. look for eveness (sp) on both sides of ur head and don't forget the back

Layering = cuting hair so not all of it is the same length

Feathering = using a razor like thing to do the ends of layers and give ur hair a light flowing look (usually 4 girls)

Shaggy = i'm assuming choppy layer and uneveness 2 look "cool" ??

ok, i have been a hairdresser for 18 yrs, so maybe i can help shed some light on this for you. 1st you said you are Asian? right? They tend to have very thick straight "hard to do anything with" hair. I would not change too much-- especially if you dont want to "shock and awe" i have seen awesome Asian cuts that have been lightened.--but maybe another time. Layering is a technique achieved by holding the hair straight up and cutting. this creates purposeful uneven layers of hair. because of how stiff Asian hair is, i don't recommend this unless you are willing to chemically process your hair to make it softer. feathering is the same thing. the word became the click word of the 70's and early 80's--farrah facett (sorry about that spelling) is the classic example.razor cutting is just what is says. it is a cut done by eye, hand and razor. usually to thin out hair--however i again caution you on this because of how stiff the hair tends to be. for a shaggy look you will need one of the above techniques to be done.

since i dont know what exactly you look at i have to guess for a style. so one that has tended to look good on asian boys it cut at the shoulder rounded and tapered at the ends. get a bang that follows the natural flow of your face down towrd the chin to meet perfectly thith the tapered back. over the ears. taper the side to but less than in the back.

unfortunately there is no real way to tell if a hairdresser is any good. ask who your friends go to.... if it is embarassing to bring up, say "my mom was looking for a new hair dresser ..any ideas" once you found someone you like DON'T LOSE THEM. i know how hard it is to find someone you like. You have every right to be paraniod. after all this is your looks that someone is gonna mess with.

bring a picture. a good one. that will be helpful, and remember you are not the person in the picture--don't expect the hairdresser to make you into him.

Find someone that has a hair style you like that also has hair similar to yours (hair type, hairline etc.) This is important, one hair style might look good on one person but not the other because of things like face shape, hair type:fine, wavy etc... take these things into consideration, then ask them who they use for a hair stylist. Then you know you can trust the stylist. Also ask the person what type of hair cut they recieved. layering technique is a hair cut in layers with regular scissors, feathering is a certain cut which was popular in the late 70's, a razor cut is done using a razor, which is good if you want your hair to have a less defined cut, and the shaggy look is usually done with a razor where hair is cut in different lengths all over the head.
